Sly syndrome is so rare that there are no statistics on incident rates. MPS VII is the only MPS syndrome that is usually seen at birth and at times prenatally. This is worth noting as in the other 5 subgroups the children appear normal at birth. Sly presents with mild retardation, mild skeletal issues, severe gastric intestinal issues, and cardiovascular issues. Due to the rarity of this disorder, the norms are not known (Harmatz & McGovern, 2010).
